Obituary

Marjorie "Margie" Jean Cole, 89, of Ceresco, Michigan, passed away on Wednesday, April 26, 2023 at Bronson Hospital in Battle Creek.

She was born on November 3, 1933 to Lester and Doris (Palmer) Beattie in Marshall. On March 8, 1952 she married Albert Cole in Angola, Indiana, sadly he passed away on January 14, 2019.

Margie started working at Howard's Motel in Marshall for many years as the manager. She accepted a job at Progressive Dynamics in Marshall from the 1960's until the mid-1970's as a laborer on the converter line and then she went to work for Imperial Motel in Marshall as a night manager until the mid-1990's. Margie finished her working career at Felpausch organizing the food demo’s.

Margie enjoyed running the Sunday bingo at the Pythian's Sister's Hall in Augusta, Michigan. She was a member of a sewing club in Battle Creek where they met at the Harper Creek Church of the Nazarene. Margie was an avid Detroit Tiger's fan, she loved to listen to them on the radio and attended at least 2 games a year. She bowled every Thursday night at Marshall Lanes for over 30 years and enjoyed helping coach her children and others bowling. Margie and her husband Albert loved to travel on bus trips throughout the mid-west and the two of them were able to go to Hawaii a couple of times as well. Some of her favorite times were with family at their cabin on Wall Lake in Delton. She was known to out fish everybody using her secret bait!!

Margie is survived by her loving children, Roger Cole of Daytona Beach, Florida, Rodney (Anna) Cole of Athens, Michigan, Albert "Tim" Cindy Cole of St. Petersburg, Florida and Sandra (Don) Rothwell of Springfield, Michigan. She is also survived by her 6 grandchildren; Justin, Barry, Jennifer, Evan, Jessica and Meghan, her 2 step-grandchildren; John and Chris, her 8 great grandchildren and her 2 great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband Albert and her siblings, Richard Beattie and Susie Beattie.

A visitation for Margie will be held on Tuesday, May 2, 2023, from 10:30 am until 12:00 pm at Kempf Family Funeral & Cremation Services 723 US Hwy 27 N, Marshall, Michigan 49068.    

Funeral services will follow at 12:00 pm at the funeral home with Pastor Richard Schlee and Pastor Mary Fair-Matthews officiating.

Burial will take place at Fort Custer National Cemetery in Augusta, Michigan.

Memorial contributions may be directed to Ceresco Baptist Church.
