Marjorie I. (Funk) Biteman

MARJORIE I. (Funk) BITEMAN, 94, peacefully passed into the presence of Jesus, her Savior, on Sunday, April 23, 2023 at her home in Battle Creek, Michigan.

Born in Jackson, MI on May 1, 1928 to Cloyde and Pearl (VanZandt) Funk, she accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as her personal Savior as a teenager, and honored that commitment in personal relationship throughout her lifetime. It was evident in all her relationships, even as her physical body declined, her faith and hope in God’s eternal provisions increased to assist her on her journey. Marjorie's love for God and others was lived out in the joys, love, concern, and prayers she expressed for others. She was a blessing in personal relationships established throughout her lifetime as well as during the final weeks of her life.

Marjorie married Richard M. Biteman on June 6, 1948. They raised their family in the village of Burlington, MI. A homemaker and active in support to the ministries of the Burlington Church of God, the community of Burlington and the surrounding area. In 1980, they moved to Battle Creek, MI and continued similar involvements with church and family ministries/activities. After retirement, Marjorie and Richard enjoyed the opportunities to spend more time with family and friends as they wintered in Lake Wales, FL.

Marjorie is survived by her loving husband Richard of 74 years; her children, son Dennis Biteman of Sheridan WY, daughter Beverly (George) Mercer of Battle Creek; grandsons Adam (Susanne) MI, and Bo (Mercedes) Biteman, WY; greatgrand children Steven, Henry, Alyssa, Holly; brother Harold (Mary) Funk, CA; sisters-in-law Georgeanna Clark, TN, Francis Cross, Pat (David) Kaniewski, Rosemarie Funk, MI; brother-in-law Dan (Martha) Biteman, MI; many nieces and nephews; special friend Carol (Pat) Williams. The family wishes to extend their heartfelt appreciation to those from Elara Caring Hospice and In Home Companions, who have shared a special bond with Marjorie during her long illness.

She was preceded in death by sisters Violet (Fred) Schumacher, Estella (Marvin) Moser; brothers Bob Funk, Dale Funk; brother- in-law Byron Biteman; grandson (Derek) Biteman. 
 

Visitation will be held from 4-5:30 p.m., Thursday, April 27, 2023, at Kempf Family Funeral and Cremation Services, 2838 Capital Ave SW Battle Creek, MI 49015. A Funeral service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Friday, April 28, 2023, with visitation one hour prior to service at the Burlington Church of God, 300 East Leroy St, Burlington, MI 49029, with Pastor David Rails officiating.  Interment will follow immediately after the service in Burlington Cemetery, Burlington, MI.
