Marian Orwig

Marian E. Orwig, age 100, of Marshall, died on August 26, 2020 at Maplewood of Marshall following a short illness.
Marian was born on October 18, 1919 in Eckford Township at home to Howard l. Katherine J. (DeKoeyer)
Tadman. She attended Marshall schools and was a member of the Marshall High School graduating class
of 1937.
After high school she worked on the office of the Chevrolet Garage in Marshall and later at Marshall Brass Company in the office for Cy Kusel. In 1943 Marian started working for Calhoun County Probate Court. In 1975 she was promoted to Probate Registrar. She was well respected by the numerous judges that she served under the many attorneys in the county. She retired in 1984. Marian was recognized by placing her picture along the numerous probate judges.
She was married on August 20, 1940 in Marshall at St. Mary's to Melvin C. Orwig. The couple first lived on N. Liberty Street in Marshall. In 1948, Mel and Marian moved to Albion. They lived there until moving back to Marshall in 1980. Melvin preceded her in death on June 24, 2011.
Marian was a member of the St. Mary Catholic Church. She was an avid card player. She enjoyed traveling with Melvin and they made it to all 50 states! They also traveled abroad, seeing favorite spots such as Spain, Portugal, England and the Canary Islands. They took cruises on the Rhine River and also through the Panama Canal.
Marian is survived by several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death also by her parents; her brothers Wayne Tadman, John Tadman, and Arthur James Tadman (in his infancy); sister Helen Monk; nephew John Monk; and great-nephew Scott Monk.
Friends may call on Friday September 11, 2020 from 4-7pm at Kempf Family Funeral and Cremation Services, 723 US 27 N. Marshall MI 49068. **Due to Covid19 there are marked entrances and exits to follow.** Funeral mass will be held at 11am on Saturday September 12, 2020 St. Mary Catholic Church. Interment will be in St. Mary Cemetery with her beloved Melvin. Friends who wish may make memorial contributions to St. Mary Catholic Church.
