Marian Elizabeth (Hale) Haas
Marian Elizabeth Haas, 92, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, October 4, 2018.
Marian was born on June 20, 1926 in Marshall, Michigan, the daughter of Dr. Claude and Ruth Hale. She graduated from Marshall High School, attended Stevens College in Columbia, Missouri, and finished at Michigan State College in 1951 with a degree in Elementary Education and English. On August 21, 1950, she married Edison (Ed) Haas and soon they made their home at Duck Lake, north of Albion, Michigan. Marian taught for Albion and Springport Schools, and Ed owned and operated Ed Haas Trucking Company in Albion.
Marian was preceded in death by her husband Ed in 1987, her parents Claude and Ruth, and her brothers Richard and John. She is survived by her children: Gib (Nancy), Claudia (Charles) Remenar, Robert, and Edison Jr. (Stephanie). She is also survived by 17 grandchildren: Tonya, Tara, Mindy, Char, Zachary, Dominique, Marianne, Philip, Elizabeth, Stacy, Rebecca, R.J. , Bridget, Kenny, Haley, Logan, and Thomas, as well as 24 great grandchildren.
In 1990, after retiring from teaching, Marian moved from Duck Lake to Albion and was active in many civic, community, and church organizations. Marian was an exceedingly kind person who was always interested in others and the world around her. She will be greatly missed by her many friends and acquaintances and her large extended family, and she will be fondly remembered by hundreds of students she taught over the years.
A graveside service to celebrate the gift her life will be held at 11 AM on Tuesday, October 9 at Clarence Center Cemetery, Anderson Road and 28 Mile Road, Springport. A luncheon will follow at New Hope Worship Center, 13600 28 Mile Road, Albion. All are welcome to come and celebrate the life of Marian.
