Marguerite E. (Hardwick) Freds

April 30, 1921 — March 19, 2020

Marguerite E. Freds, 98, of Fredonia Township, died on Thursday March 19, 2020, at her home surrounded by her family.

Mrs. Freds was born on April 30, 1921, in Fredonia Township to Charles and Bernadine (Rimmer) Hardwick.  She graduated from Marshall High School in 1939.  On September 13, 1942 she married Charles Freds in Hollywood California.  He preceded her in death on October 15, 2008.

Mrs. Freds worked several jobs when she was younger, and later would stay at home and raise her family and help her husband on the farm. She was an active member of the former Ellis Corners United Methodist Church, where she held various positions throughout the years including Financial Secretary.  Her family was her greatest joy with each grandchild being very special to her.  She enjoyed making quilts for them.  Mrs. Freds also enjoyed working in her flower garden, crafts, and word puzzles.

She is survived by her daughters, Sandra (Steve) Stratton of Trenton, Ohio, Charlene (Mike) McCorriston of Shelby, and Lynette (Jim) Todd of Marshall; and sons, Michael (Elizabeth) Freds of Burlington and Thomas (Debra) Freds of Marshall; 13 grand children and several great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sisters Doris Bender and Phyllis Freds; brothers Charles Hardwick and Carl Hardwick; and an infant son Dave Leroy.

**Due to Covid-19  a viewing and funeral service will be held for the family on Saturday, March 21 at the Marshall Chapel.

Interment will be in West Eckford Cemetery. Serving as Pallbearers were: Mark Stratton, Greg Stratton, John Travis, Jason Freds, Tim McCorriston, Matthew Freds, Charlie Ramos, and Nick Zuehlke.

**  A recording of the services will be uploaded afterwards at https://www.kempffuneralhome.com for friends to view and express their sympathy to the family. A community memorial service will take place at a later date.
