Madge W. (Watson) Franks-Snook

February 6, 1922 — April 30, 2020

Madge W. Franks-Snook, age 98, of Bellevue and formerly of Marshall died Thursday evening, April 30, 2020 at Oaklawn Hospital.

Mrs. Snook was born on February 6, 1922 in Prestonsburg, Kentucky to Branch and Linda (Perkins) Watson. She has been a resident Marshall since 1980, moving here from Olivet.  She had been employed by the Eaton Corporation in Marshall for 18 years, retiring in 1984.  Other places of employment included working in the onion fields as a youth.  She also worked for the Woodlin Metal Company, managed a restaurant in Olivet, waitressed at Schuler’s Restaurant, served as a supervisor in a glass factory in Olivet and worked as a manager for the Gidleman’s Ready to Wear Shop in Marshall.

On October 21, 1939, she married Charles Franks in Angola Indiana.  That marriage ended in divorce.  She then married Cecil Snook on January 6, 1977 in Battle Creek.  He preceded her in death on June 18, 2000.

Madge was an active member of the Marshall community.  She was a member of the Women of the Moose (since 1962), a member of the Marengo Extension Club and the Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary Post Calhoun County #7.  Madge enjoyed attending monthly lunches with her retired Eaton friends and helping at the Moose dinners.

She loved her family and especially enjoyed her grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. Madge and Cecil traveled throughout Michigan attending craft shows where they sold her beautiful knitted wares and quilts.

She is survived by a son, Charles (Joan pre. 4/14/2020) Franks; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a son, Verlin Franks; daughters, Bonnie Griffith, Diana Riggs.  She is also preceded in death by brothers, Shermie Watson, Clarence Watson, Kernie Watson, Boone Watson and Orville Watson; and sisters Marge Fox and Rissie Budd.

**Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, private family services will be held.  A public memorial service will be held at a later date.

Friends who wish may make memorial contributions to Oaklawn Hospice or to the Marshall Moose Lodge.  Assistance with memorials is available through the funeral home.
