Louise Bradstreet

April 9, 1934 — January 23, 2021

Ellen Louise (Rizor) Bradstreet, 86, of Battle Creek went to be with her Lord on January 23, 2021 at Glen Arbor Hospice, where she passed peacefully in her sleep.
Louise was born in Calhoun County to John and Elsie (Root) Rizor on April 9, 1934. She graduated from Battle Creek Central High School in 1952. She married Daniel Kent Bradstreet on May 17, 1953. The marriage ended in divorce in 1980. She and Danny had three sons, Ronald (1955), Robert (1956) and David (1958). In her early years she worked as a bookkeeper for a local CPA, Log Cabin restaurant and Cunningham Drug Store. She spent her career with Harper Creek schools working as an office secretary for 31 years. She was also very proud of her work with the Michigan Education Association, having negotiated improved benefits for support staff. She was active with MEA for 21 years and served as Region IV president.
Louise enjoyed music which was evident by her involvement with Morning Musical and Sweet Adelines. She had a player piano and enjoyed playing her upright piano until arthritis took over. In her spare time she enjoyed reading, swimming, gardening, bowling, golf, Sudoku and puzzles. She like to volunteer, working at Community Hospital and Binder Park Zoo. She was a huge Detroit Tigers fan and watched the games religiously! She also liked to travel, going on several trips with friends after she retired. Before that she planned family vacations each summer. She has been to Alaska, Mexico, Las Vegas, Costa Rica, Grand Canyon, and Yosemite National Park just to name a few.
She spent her last thirteen months in Reflections Memory Care in Battle Creek where she was loved and well cared for. Until that time she shared her home with her trusty daschund, Barney, for over ten years.
Louise is survived by her brother Gilbert (Barbara) Rizor; sons Ronald (Gail) Bradstreet, Robert (Shelly) Bradstreet and David (Becky) Bradstreet; grandchildren Eric (Milady) Bradstreet of Costa Rica, Emily (Justin) McDaniel of Battle Creek, Adam (Kirstin) VanderWall of Fillmore, IN, Britt (Patrick) Vorenkamp of Lansing, MI, Shana (Matthew) VanDamme of Mishawaka, IN; great grandchildren Ashlynn McDaniel (Battle Creek) and Tai Bradstreet (Costa Rica); sister-in-law Vivian Bradstreet (Onalaska, WI) and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; Danny Bradstreet; brother-in-law Barry Bradstreet; and grandson Mitch VanderWall.
