Lori J. (Potter) Negus

December 12, 1960 — October 9, 2021

Albion

Lori J. Negus (Potter), 60, of Albion, died on Saturday, October 9, 2021, at Bronson Battle Creek following a prolonged illness that was exacerbated by Covid.

Lori was born on December 12, 1960, in Marshall to Howard and Lois (Wright) Potter. Lori attended Marshall Schools, but later went on to obtain her GED and a few Associate Degrees from Kellogg Community College. On August 31, 1990, she married the love of her life and best friend John G. Negus at the courthouse in Marshall.

Lori worked for Regional Medical Labs for many years before her illness forced her into retirement. She later began working with Folk Oil in Homer MI when she became restless sitting at home. Even though working in the oil industry was out of her comfort zone, she spent 13 years there before her illness and family finally forced her into her final retirement.

When Lori was younger, she enjoyed playing softball, bowling, reading, and taking care of her children. Later, she also enjoyed casinos, playing cards with family, and exploring what our great state had to offer with her children and grandchildren at her side. Her family was always her top hobby though and she really enjoyed making sure that everyone was happy, healthy, and had a full belly. One could not visit without knowing that she would have a full spread of food for them to choose from (and especially their favorites). She was always there to talk and listen to everyone and would have done anything in her power to keep everyone safe.

She is survived by her husband John; four children Daniel (Michelle) Negus, Julie Negus, Amy (Aren) Smith, and Jessi Weaver; grandchildren Trevor (Catie), Jeremy, Isaac, Matthew, Beth, Destiny, Sara, Jonathon, Nevaeh and Noah; great-grandchildren Alice and Charlie; siblings Allen Potter, Howard (Judy) Phillips , Patricia Sowers, and Debbie (Todd) Andrews; In laws Mike Negus, Marilyn Lewis, Phil Negus, and Paul (Robin) Negus; Special nephews and pallbearers Chad (Nancy) Potter, David (Lindsey) Potter, and Paul (Aundrea) Negus; Niece and pallbearer Tessa Negus  and some others that deserve the recognition of being her family like Tommy and Joanne Hubbard and Stewart Winter. She was preceded in death by her grandmother Ada Wright; her parents; her aunt Faye Kidder, an infant grandchild Jonathon; and brother-in-law James Negus.

Visitation will take place on Thursday, October 21, 2021, from 2-4pm and 6-8pm at the Kempf Family Funeral and Cremation Services 723 US Hwy 27 N Marshall MI 49068. Funeral Services celebrating her life will take place at 11am on Friday, October 22, 2021, at the Kempf Family Funeral and Cremation Services 723 US Hwy 27 N Marshall MI 49068. Interment will follow at Rice Creek Cemetery. The only memorial that the family asks for is that no one forgets the love that she had for her family and to always be willing to share your stories with them because honestly, that is all that she would ask for.
