Linda Suzanne (VanBuren) Millard, age 62, of Battle Creek passed away January 5, 2019 at Rose Arbor Hospice Residence surrounded by her loving family.
Linda was born on July 5, 1956 in Durand, Michigan to Elmer G. and Leora C. (McAvoy) VanBuren. She graduated from Bellevue High School in 1974. On September 18, 1976 she married the love of her life, Ricky S. Millard, at St. Ann Catholic Church in Bellevue, Michigan.
Linda was a member of the National Honor Society, played the clarinet, and was a cheerleader throughout her high school years. She was proud of being the captain of the Bellevue cheerleaders and later in life coaching cheerleading at St. Philip High School. She was also a member of St. Philip Catholic Church.
Linda attended the Calhoun County Vocational Center in 1974 where she started taking care of patients as a nurse aide. She attended Kellogg Community College and obtained her LPN in 1975, starting her career as a nurse at Lakeview General Hospital. She later attended KCC, obtained her ADN, and passed her boards becoming an RN in 1984. She was a General-Medical, Cardio-Pulmonary, and Hemodialysis nurse. She proudly and compassionately cared for patients for 35 years at Lakeview, Leila/BCHS, Community, Renal Care Group, and Davita Dialysis. She retired from her profession in 2009.
Linda enjoyed caring for people, shopping, antiquing, and scrapbooking. Her most favorite time was spent with family. She loved being with her soul mate and best friend, Rick. She cherished spending time with her two children, six grandchildren, and extended family. She always supported them in all their endeavors and attended all their activities to cheer them on. She will be remembered as a loving, kind, caring, and compassionate person. She will be missed by all that had the pleasure and privilege to know her.
Linda is survived by her husband and life partner, Ricky S. Millard of Battle Creek; her children, Jason (Courtney Carter) Millard of Byron Center, MI, and Dr. Maranda (Christopher) Gary of Richland, MI; grandchildren, Andrew, Austin, Tyler, Aaron, Alexis, and Mason; sister, Kathleen VanBuren of Nashville, MI; mother-in-law, Jane Millard of Battle Creek; niece, Kristen (Brzycki) Silvers; nephews, Jeremy and Jeffrey Brzycki, and other great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Elmer and Leora VanBuren.
Family will gather with friends at the Kempf Family Funeral and Cremation Services, 723 Old US 27 North, Marshall Chapel on Tuesday January 8, 2019 from 2-4pm and 6-8pm. A Catholic funeral service celebrating her life will take place at 1pm on Wednesday January 9, 2019 at St. Ann Catholic Church in Bellevue. Linda will be laid to rest in Hicks Cemetery following the funeral service.
