Lee R. Wyman, 91, of Athens passed away on Thursday, September 26, 2019 at Calhoun County Medical Care Facility.
Lee was born on May 25, 1928 in Battle Creek to Roland and Bernice (Morgan) Wyman. He graduated from Athens High School in 1946, and then from the Michigan State College in the Short AG program. On October 12, 1947 he married Arlene H. Sunday in Athens.
Lee owned and operated his own dairy and crop farm in the Athens area for many years. He was a member of the Wakeshma Community Church, 4-H, the Athens Lions Club, Athens Historical Society, Athens Youth Council, Westside Ag Club, and a former member of the Athens School Board. He was a member of the Athens Masonic Lodge #220 for over 60 years, and in 2014 he was named Mason of the Year. Lee volunteered with the Wakeshma Community Church Food Pantry for over 16 years. He enjoyed traveling and made it to all 50 States and many other countries. Lee's passion was restoring and collecting John Deere tractors but his biggest love was for his family. He was a very devoted husband, father and grandfather. He will be dearly missed.
He is survived by his wife of 71 years Arlene of Athens; children, Gary (LeeAnn) Wyman of Bellevue, Tom (Cindy) Wyman of Sandwich, Illinois, and Marie (Don) Crapoff of Battle Creek; nine grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and sister, Leora (Sid) Fowler of Scotts. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Letha Jarvis.
Family will gather with friends from 4-7:00 pm on Monday, September 30, 2019 at the Battle Creek Chapel of the Kempf Family Funeral and Cremation Services, 2838 Capital Ave. SW, Battle Creek. Funeral services celebrating his life will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday October 1, 2019 at the Wakeshma Community Church 16732 E UV Ave, Fulton, MI 49052. In honor of Lee's love for farming and John Deere tractors, please feel free to wear John Deere apparel or casual attire to the service. Interment will follow at Burr Oak Cemetery in Athens. Memorial contributions are requested to Wakeshma Community Church or to the Athens Youth Council. Assistance with memorials is available at the Kempf Family Funeral and Cremation Services.
