Laurence Smith McComb

Laurence Smith McComb, 92, of Marshall died on Friday, March 19, 2021 at his home surrounded by his family following a long illness.
Larry was born on October 19, 1928 in Kalamazoo to Lawrence and Orilla Mae McComb. Larry joined the United States Navy in 1945. He served during World War II serving on the USS O'Hare. He was honorably discharged in 1949. On May 25, 1970 he married Marjorie A. Cousino in Marshall.
Larry started Shaw Shoe Store in Marshall in 1960, and he operated it until his retirement in 1992. After his retirement, Larry enjoyed spending time on family property "The Land" having several gatherings with friends and family. "The Land" was his favorite spot to get away and play golf with his friends on his three-hole golf course.
He is survived by his wife Marjorie; two sons Greg (Chris) McComb, Mitch (Becki) McComb, Mary Ellen (Bucky) Hopkins and Linda (Dan) Ames; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; two children, Larry McComb Jr and Christopher McComb.
Visitation will take place from 4-7pm on Tuesday, March 23, 2021 at the Kempf Family Funeral and Cremation Services 723 US Hwy 27 N Marshall MI 49068. Funeral services celebrating his life will take place at 11am on Wednesday March 24, 2021 at the Kempf Family Funeral and Cremation Services 723 US Hwy 27 N Marshall MI 49068. Interment will follow at Fort Custer National Cemetery, 15501 Dickman Road Augusta, MI 49012 at 1pm. Memorial contributions are requested to St. Mary Catholic Church, 212 W.
