Joyce Irene Sutfin

September 30, 1949 — July 3, 2019

Joyce Irene (Slayton) Sutfin was born September 30, 1949, the fourth child of Richard and AdaMay (Binger) Slayton. She was raised on "The Farm" in Ceresco, MI. Joyce graduated from Harper Creek High School with the class of 1967.

She was employed at Robinsons Department Store, Kunitzer & Associates, and the Hallmark Store. Joyce married Allen Sutfin in January of 1970.

Together they enjoyed weekend car rides and the occasional long trip, often stopping at estate sales looking for treasures. Some of their longer trips took them across the United States including destinations like California, Georgia, Florida, and Kansas City. They also enjoyed balloon crewing for her brother, Rick. Joyce was not going to be outdone by her brothers, so she restored a 1949 Ford with the help of Allen and her dad.

She sewed many wedding and formal dresses, and was always crafting or making something. Joyce was always willing to help others with their crafting projects. She had a good heart and also enjoyed spending time and taking care of her family and many grandchildren.

Joyce is survived by her husband, Allen; daughter, Tammy Jo (Jim); son, Dennis (Christen); grandchildren, Aaron (Krissy), Corrina, Dorrien, Kat, and Amaya; step-family, Jerry (Brenda), Erika (Tyler), Brittany, and Josh; brother, Bill (Pat); sister, Deb (Bob); sisters-in-law, Cheri, Sally, and Judi; and several nieces, nephews and their families. She was preceded in death by her parents, Richard and AdaMay; stepson, Steven; brothers, Duane, Ed, and Rick; and sister, Dorrie.

Joyce passed away July 3, 2019. Her cremains will be laid to rest at Morgan Cemetery.

The family is being served by the Kempf Family Funeral and Cremation Services, 2838 SW Capital Avenue, Battle Creek Chapel.

"Come to me, all who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest." Matthew 11:28.
