Josephine Therese (Hryszkiewicz) Wolk

Josephine Therese Wolk, age 98, of Marshall and formerly of Ann Arbor and the Detroit areas died Monday, September 1, 2020 at her home.
Mrs. Wolk was born on August 1, 1922 in West Wilmerding, Pennsylvania to Frank and Anitionia (Dudzinska) Hryszkiewicz. She has been a resident of the Marshall area since March 23, 2019 moving here from Ann Arbor. Josephine was a graduate of Fordson High School in Dearborn, Michigan.
On May 30, 1942, she married Stanley J. Wolk in Dearborn. He preceded her in death in January 1999.
Josephine was a homemaker. During the war, she served in the Secretarial Division of the United States Army Air Force. Other employment included working as a dental assistant.
Mrs. Wolk was a lifelong member of the catholic church and while living in Marshall attended St. Mary Catholic Church. She was an avid reader often reading two or more books in a week. Josephine was a very artistic person and enjoyed crocheting and painting in watercolors. In her youth, she was active in horseback riding and while in high school was a member of the swimming ballet team. A favorite pastime of Josephine's was playing a highly spirited game of cards with family members and going to casinos.
She is survive by children, Joanne Pawlick of Ann Arbor, Antoinette Wolk of Borden, IN, Stanley Wolk of Marshall, Thomas (Bridget) Wolk of Marshall, Frank Wolk of Saline, MI, and Patricia (Allen) Koonter of Novi, MI; 8 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Antionia Hryszkiewicz, her husband, Stanley; a son and daughter, Ralph and Maryann Wolk in infancy; a granddaughter, Ruth Pawlick; and sisters and brothers, Cassie, Helen Walter, Stanley and Edward.
The family will receive friends 9 AM Thursday morning, September 3, 2020 at the Kempf Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services 723 Old Us Hwy 27 N, Marshall, Michigan. A funeral service to celebrate the gift of her life will be held at 10 AM at the funeral home with Reverend Fr. Craig Lusk officiating. Interment will follow later that day in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Detroit, Michigan.
