Jerry Lee Murray

Jerry Lee Murray, 85, of Polk City, Florida passed away on December 4, 2019 in Lakeland, FL. He was born October 9, 1934 in Marshall, Michigan to parents Herman and Evelyn Murray.

He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Judith “Jay” Murray; his children, Dale, Carol, Amy, Anne, Carrie, Mary and Ryan; bonus children, Debra, Nida and Doug; 23 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; his sister, Jo Ann Thompson (David); and ten cousins.

Jerry worked for many years as the director of engineering for many hospitals and hotels all over the country. He attended Michigan State University.

In his downtime, he LOVED car racing and was involved with track safety at Michigan International Speedway for 31 years, He also volunteered with NASCAR and CART. Jerry was an active participant in Masons, including serving as a Master Mason.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, July 13, 2020 at Lyon Lake United Methodist Church, 8491 17 Mile Rd, Marshall, MI 49068. Due to Covid-19, the indoor service at the church is restricted to immediate family and invited guests only. Friends are invited to join the service outdoors via a live stream provided by Kempf Family Funeral and Cremation Services, which may be viewed at https://www.kempffuneralhome.com .
