Janet Wies (Reed, Ciesielski)

We deeply mourn the loss of Janet Wies (Reed, Ciesielski), who peacefully passed away on May 7, 2023, at the age of 88. Her passing is felt deeply by her family and community, as she lived a life rooted in faith, gratitude, and respect for all of God's creations.

Janet was born on June 3, 1934, in Detroit, MI, to the late William and Eunice Wies. Her legacy will live on through her beloved grandchildren, Lisa Granum, Christopher Granum, Gregory Granum, Erik Reed, Amanda Reed, and Anthony Reed, and 5 great-grandchildren. Janet was preceded in death by her brothers William Wies and Robert Wies, and children David Reed, Richard Reed, and Cynthia Reed.

Janet's life was a true testament to her deep faith and dedication to serving others. She spent many years of her career in the Calhoun County Circuit Court in Battle Creek, MI, and continued to serve in the Maricopa County Superior Court in Phoenix, AZ after moving to Arizona in 1990. She lent her expertise to numerous organizations, including the Michigan Association of Circuit Court Assignment where she served as President, and the Marshall Housing Commission where she was the Treasurer.

Janet possessed a deep love for life that was evident in all that she did. She enjoyed socializing, playing games, ballroom dancing, and traveling. Janet was a passionate volunteer who worked with various organizations, including the American Red Cross, the American Cancer Society and Hospice.

May the soul of Janet Wies rest in eternal peace and may her memory forever be a blessing to all those who knew and loved her.

Visitation was held on May 16, 2023, at Best Funeral Services in Peoria, AZ, followed by Requiem Mass at Our Lady of the Sun Traditional Roman Catholic Church in El Mirage, AZ.  Janet's burial service will be held at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Marshall, MI on May 25, 2023, at 2 p.m. Memorial contributions may be given in Janet’s name to the American Red Cross, the American Cancer Society, or a hospice organization of the donor’s choice. Arrangements in Michigan were entrusted to Kempf Family Funeral and Cremation Services, 723 US Hwy 27 N, Marshall, MI 49068.
