Janet Anne Shaffer

Janet Anne Shaffer, age 80, of Tekonsha passed away Friday, December 20, 2019 in Marshall, MI surrounded by her loving family. She was born January 22, 1939 in Battle Creek, MI the daughter of the late Gerald Horn and Marion (Nauman) Horn. Janet was a graduate of Tekonsha High School. Janet was married to Donald Shaffer in January of 1957. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and devoted homemaker. She was a longtime member of Union Church (United Church of Christ). She belonged to the Pritchard's Mothers Club, sang in the church choir, served in women's fellowship, and cooked meals for church funerals. Janet was always sending cards to friends and family and included special verses and quotes. She and Donald enjoyed traveling and camping in the Upper Peninsula and out west with the family and friends. She enjoyed gardening, feeding the birds, and enjoyed making dried flower arrangements. Left to cherish her memory are her loving husband, Donald Shaffer; sons, Scott (Lori) Shaffer; Daniel (Lynett) Shaffer, Martin Shaffer;  brother, Gerald (Angela) Horn; sisters, Betty Vincent, Valerie Bergerson; grandsons, Nicholas Shaffer, Adam (Melanie) Shaffer, and Anthony Shaffer. She was preceded in death by her sister, Marilyn Clements; and Kenneth Douglas, who raised her with Marion. The family will receive friends at Union Church 206 Randall Street, Tekonsha, MI 49092 on Monday, December 23, 2019 from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm. A funeral service will follow the visitation at the church at 12:00 pm on Monday, with The Rev. Jennifer Fair officiating.
