James "Jim" R. Flanders, 92, of Leesburg, Florida, formerly of Newton Twp., Michigan went to be with our Lord on Monday, August 1, 2022 in Leesburg, Florida.

He was born on January 3, 1930 to Harold and Alice (Neisius) Flanders-Gingrich in Ceresco, Michigan. He was a graduate of Marshall High School. On May 14, 1948 he married Helen Louise Seedorff, she preceded him in death on April 9, 1995. Jim then married Norma Herr Colwell.

James "Jim" retired from the Kellogg Cereal Co. after many years. He was a member of the Kellogg 25-year club and was a 78 year member of the Home Grange. Jim was a longtime member of the Newton United Methodist Church. Jim worked countless hours volunteering to raise money for the inception of the Newton Township Fire Department and was one of the last original firemen for the township. Jim belonged to the Rainbow Chasers Travel Trailer Club. He loved camping and traveling with his trailer. Every summer, for over 40 years, he camped on the same spot at Tri Lake Trails Campground.

James "Jim" is survived by his loving spouse; Norma of Leesburg, Florida, his children; Steve (Sarah) Flanders of Denver, Colorado, Ron (Pam) Flanders of Battle Creek, Michigan, Diana (Dick) Wagner of Ceresco, Michigan, Dennis (Kendall) Flanders of Marysville, Washington, Bill (Kathy) Flanders of Lacey, Washington and Ken (Diane) Flanders of Marshall, Michigan; his four stepchildren; Gayle (Al) Squires of Marquette, Michigan, Joe (DeLinda) Wallace of Munising, Michigan, Matt (Robin) Colwell of Kalamazoo, Michigan and Kelly (Don) Colwell of Battle Creek, Michigan. He is also survived by 15 grandchildren, 9 step grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren and 9 step great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Helen Louise Flanders, his brother, Harold (Flip) Flanders, his sister, Wanda Mishler and his great-granddaughter, Mara Wagner.

Graveside services will take place on Wednesday, August 10, 2022, 11:00 am at Newton Cemetery, Newton Township, Michigan.
