James “Jim” J. Yurisich, 68, of Marshall, passed away on Thursday, September 23, 2021 at Marshall Nursing and Rehabilitation.

Jim was born on July 1, 1953 to Joseph G. and Annabelle (Finnigan) Yurisich in Battle Creek. He graduated from Harper Creek High School.

Jim joined the United States Air Force on August 24, 1971 in Detroit, Michigan and was honorably discharged on July 28, 1975 in Sacramento, California, attaining the rank of Sargent.

He was a longtime machine operator at Hi-Lex in Battle Creek.

Jim was a member of St. Phillip Roman Catholic Church, former member of Battle Creek Knights of Columbus. He loved everything about aviation as he was an airplane mechanic during his time in the service. Jim enjoyed hunting, fishing and above all else he loved being with his family.

He is survived by his son; Jacob A. (Bethany) of Battle Creek, his grandchildren; Breanna M. Wonnacott of Battle Creek and Josiah A, Yurisich of Battle Creek, His siblings; Janet (Thomas) Godde of Augusta, Sue (Charles) Ausberger of Grand Rapids and Ellyn (Michael) Minges of Battle Creek, and his ex-wife; Cheryl Sigler of Battle Creek. Jim was preceded in death by his parents and his brother; Kenneth Yurisich.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the family.

Graveside funeral service with military honors for Jim will take place at 10:00 AM, Monday, October 4, 2021 at Ft. Custer National Cemetery in Augusta, Michigan. A memorial mass will be held at 11:30 AM, Monday, October 4, 2021 at St. Philip Roman Catholic Church in Battle Creek.
