James M. Mohn, age 87, of Marshall, MI passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, November 21, 2018 at his home.
He was born in Durand, MI the son of Maurice & Phyllis (Riddle) Mohn. Jim graduated from Durand High School and after graduating, enlisted and proudly served in the United States Marine Corps. On August 5, 1950 James married the love of his life, Erma Sexton.
Jim was a Locomotive Engineer for the Railroad where he later retired. He was an avid volunteer for the B.E. Henry Community Building Association and was very involved with Fredonia Grange. Jim was an avid collector of railroad memorabilia and he loved to travel and visit scenic railroads. He enjoyed time outdoors and carpentry work.
Jim is survived by his loving wife, Erma of 68 years; children, Brenda (Bill) Bowens of Battle Creek, Linda Nearnberg of Marshall, James (Keith Recker) Mohn of Pittsburgh; grandchildren, Travis (Jamie) Reed, Jessica Ellsworth, Meighan (Ben) Zenker, Kristy Howard, Louis Howard, Katherine Recker-Mohn, Julie (Steven) Rhoades; 10 great-grandchildren; siblings, Ada Boog, and Karen (Gary) Hathon. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Family will receive friends Sunday, November 25, 2018 from 2:00-4:00pm and 6:00-8:00pm at the Kempf Funeral & Cremation Services, Marshall. Funeral services will take place at the funeral home on Monday, November 26, 2018 at 11:00am with Reverend James Codde officiating.
