Gladys E. (Slone) Shaffmaster

Gladys E. Shaffmaster, 64, of Battle Creek, Michigan passed away on Monday, May 22, 2023 at Bronson Battle Creek Hospital.

She was born on August 19, 1958 to Jimmy Ray Slone and Virgie (Marshall) Sparks in Marshall, Michigan.

On January 22, 1977 she married Gary Shaffmaster in Battle Creek. Gladys graduated from Battle Creek Central and continued her education at Kellogg Community College, earning her associate degree in business management.

Gladys will be fondly missed for being the "Grandma" of the neighborhood. She was a very intelligent, quick-witted and kindhearted person, always putting others before her own needs. Gladys enjoyed reading and helping Taylor with her poetry writing. She loved being outdoors whether it was camping or walking in the woods.

Gladys is survived by her loving husband of 46 years Gary; her son, Jason (Stacy Cook) Shaffmaster of Battle Creek; her grandchildren, Taylor Martin of Battle Creek, Elizabeth Martin of Battle Creek, Haley Shaffmaster, Trinity Spinlow of Battle Creek, Damien Spinlow of Ohio and Jason Shaffmaster of Battle Creek, her son in law, Danial Martin of Battle Creek, her siblings, Lindy (Don) Watson of Ceresco and David (Pam) Morey of Battle Creek.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her daughter, Lisa Shaffmaster-Martin, her brother, Jim Slone and her sister, Cindy Slone-Provost.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
