Franklin Delano Caldwell, 87, of Homer, MI passed away on March 10, 2021 at Henry Ford Allegiance Hospice in Jackson, MI. Franklin was born on January 19, 1934 in MacBeth, WV, and was the last surviving child of Herbert and Ernestine Caldwell. Franklin served his country in the United States Army as a paratrooper, serving from 1956-1958.
He worked for St. Regis/Waldorf Paper Company for forty-three years. He had many hobbies and interests. He enjoyed the outdoors and fishing. He was devoted to the Lord and read the Bible. He had been attending Cooks Prairie Baptist Church. He enjoyed listening to Gospel and old country music, playing solitaire on the computer, and watching old westerns such as Gunsmoke. He was a loving family man who loved spending time with his wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He had a wonderful sense of humor and brought joy to everyone he met.
Franklin is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Romaine Janice Caldwell. They were united in marriage on April 24, 1954. Left to cherish his memory are their children, Teresa Osborne, Max Caldwell, Deborah (Michael) Hancz; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert and Ernestine Caldwell.
Friends may visit with the family from 10 a.m. - 12 p.m. on Monday, March 15, 2021 at the Kempf Family Funeral and Cremation Services, 303 S Hillsdale St, Homer, MI 49245. The funeral service will follow the visitation at the funeral home at 12 p.m., with Pastor Greg Grotbeck officiating. A graveside service will follow in West Eckford Cemetery, where Army funeral honors will be rendered.
