Frank W. Hazel, age 94, of Homer passed away April 7, 2018 at his residence.
Frank was born on January 21, 1924 in Eckford Township to Roy and Floy (Brainard) Hazel.
He graduated from Marshall High School with the class of 1943 and enlisted into the United States Army in March of 1945. Frank proudly served our country until his honorable discharge in November of 1946.
After his military career, Frank worked as a Heavy Equipment Operator for New York Central Rail Road. He retired in June of 1984. Frank married Barbara Russell and together they had 4 children. Barbara preceded Frank in death in May of 1998.
Frank enjoyed fishing, yard work, planting flowers, and bird watching. He also liked traveling, camping, and mowing the yard. Frank loved spending quality time with his grandchildren. He was an old fashioned solid man who took care of his family, and never hurt anybody.
Frank is survived by his children, Robert Hazel of ND, Anna (Robert) Wills of Marshall, David (Linda) Hazel of Marshall, and Cathy Amaro of Marshall; 10 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and brothers, Roy (Donna) Hazel Jr. of Marengo Township, and Earl (Pat) Hazel of Litchfield.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Floy Hazel; wife, Barbara Hazel; brother, Floyd Hazel; and sister, Louise Cartwright, and Margaret Coats.
Visitation will be held at the Kempf Family Funeral and Cremation Services, 723 Old US 27 North, Marshall Chapel on Thursday April 12, 2018 from 6-8pm with family present to greet friends at that time. A funeral service will take place at the funeral home Friday April 13, 2018 at 11am with Reverend Jim Codde officiating. Frank will be laid to rest next to his wife in West Eckford Cemetery.
