Frances Louise (Poelker) Avery

Frances Louise Avery, 92, of Homer, Michigan passed away on Friday, December 31, 2021 at Calhoun County Medical Care Facility, Battle Creek, Michigan.

She was born on November 9, 1929 to William and Clara (Preston) Poelker in Jackson, Michigan. She married Alvin Avery on November 12, 1949 and sadly he passed away on December 7, 1989.

Frances worked as a switchboard operator for many years,  She also worked at Reichow Mull Insurance Agency in Homer back in the 70's. Frances was very active at the Avery Brother's Dairy Farm doing anything and everything to help, including driving the milk truck. She worked for M & M Catering in Tekonsha and in dietary for Homer Public Schools.

Frances was active with the Child Study Club at Homer Public Schools and the Christian Woman's Group at Homer United Methodist Church. She enjoyed playing cards, canasta, bunko and especially bingo. Frances loved to make quilts, sew and read.

Frances is survived by her loving children; Linda (Doug) Tasker of Homer, Michigan, Dennis (Sharon) Avery of Homer, Michigan and Steve (Tina) Avery of Homer, Michigan, her 9 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband; Alvin, her parents and her sisters; Kathleen Walker, Margaret Lawson, Elizabeth Stuart and Elenore Noe,

Visitation for Frances will take place on Wednesday, January 5, 2022, from 10:00 am - 12:00 pm at Kempf Family Funeral & Cremation Services, 303 S. Hillsdale St. Homer, Michigan 49245 with the funeral service to follow at 12 :00 Noon at the funeral home. Pastor Bob Stover, Homer United Methodist Church officiating.

Burial will take place at Fairview Cemetery- Homer.

Memorials are suggested to the Homer Public Library.
