Ethel E. (Amsler) Rapp, age 96, of Eckford died peacefully Saturday, March 7, 2020 at her home.
Mrs. Rapp was born on November 4, 1923 in Harden County, Ohio to Vernon and Goldie (Gallant) Amsler. She lived the majority of her life in the Eckford area. She had been employed as a Care Provider at the old Fort Custer State Home in Battle Creek and then at the Coldwater State Home. She retired in 1983, after serving the state for over 30 years.
A marriage to Pete Payne ended in divorce. On January 20, 1962, she married Earl Frederick “Bud” Rapp at the East Eckford Church. He preceded her in death on June 15, 1985.
Ethel was a life member of the Fredonia Grange and was a former member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints -Mormon Church in Battle Creek. She was an active member of the Harden County Historical Society in Ohio. Ethel enjoyed traveling, camping, playing bingo and going to auctions. A favorite activity for Ethel was traveling to Ohio to visit with her relatives.
She is survived by her sons, Robert C. Rapp of Eckford, Rodger E. Rapp of Marengo and Bruce A. Rapp of Eckford; grandchildren, Boe Norton, Jean Isaacs, Rose Norton, Sonny Norton, Rodney Rapp, Katrina Rapp, Kenny Rapp, Mary Monarch, William Monarch and Tim Hardin; great grandchildren and great great grandchildren, Courtney Horner, Josh Horner, Zach Horner, Chelsee Horner, Larry Horner, Brantley Horner, Remi Horner, Rodney Rapp Jr., Katrina Rapp, Shane Rapp, Cody Rapp, Ben Rapp, Katie Hamilton, Whitney Cottingham, Zoey Cottingham, Paisely Cottingham, Joseph Monarch, David Isaacs, Angela Isaacs, Michelle Aden, Nakira Aden, Octavian Aden, Paxton Aden, Zarianna Aden, Lilly Norton, Destiny Norton, Kaos Norton, Sonny Norton, Summer Norton, Cady Norton, Henry Norton, Ramond Norton, William Norton and Tyler Norton. She is also survived by a brother, Gene Amsler of Quincy and a special niece, Rolene Amsler.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Bud Rapp; and siblings, Nancy Kilbourn, Verna Farmer, Zenith Pratley, Harold Amsler, Vernon Amsler and Caddie Amsler.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, March 11, 2020 from 5 PM to 8 PM at the Kempf Family and Cremation Service 723 US Hwy 27 N, Marshall, Michigan 49068. A funeral service to celebrate the gift of her life will be held 11 AM Thursday, March 12, 2020 at the funeral home with Pastor Ralph McCarty officiating. Interment will follow in West Eckford Cemetery.
