Eleanor Mae Lindberg

Eleanor Mae Lindberg, 97, departed the temporal sphere peacefully and joyfully with loved ones by her side on September 29, in Marshall, Michigan, where she had resided for 48 years.
Ellie grew up in Grand Rapids, Michigan during the hardscrabble Depression era and following her graduation from high school joined the military, where she proudly served as a WAVE for the duration of World War II.
These early life experiences deeply informed her sensibilities of compassion, unconditional love, and keen interest in all matters of life - sensibilities that she shared widely with all she came in contact with. She remained a sharp observer of everything that was happening and an extremely eloquent communicator of her perceptions and opinions during her entire voyage here on this planet.
Her sincere concern for and involvement with family was core to her life journey. In addition to her husband of 61 years, Jack, and her three children, Carol, Laurie, and John, she maintained and developed uniquely special connections with her siblings, in-laws, nephews, nieces, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and an entire host of diverse friends that to her were simply more family. Her relationship with the natural world was also key to who she was as she spent much time intently absorbing the beautiful wonders of lakes, birds, wildlife, trees, flowers - all that is.
Ellie was an ardently involved member of Trinity Episcopal Church, and the Philanthropic Educational Organization - both of which she shared much of her vital energy with.
She did a lot of living, with a lot of laughter. She enriched many lives, endured and accepted the various torments that life brings, and was certainly among the most stubborn of individuals one could ever imagine encountering. She lived in gratitude. She was loved.
Memorial service on Tuesday, October 8, 11AM, at Trinity Episcopal Church, followed by interment with military honors at Fort Custer National Cemetery.
