Donna J. (Snyder) Morse

March 18, 1929 — September 22, 2020

Donna J. Snyder Morse, age 91, of Lyon Lake, Marshall, died on September 22, 2020 at Grand Vista of Marshall.

Mrs. Morse was born on March 18, 1929 in Orleans, Michigan to Charles H. Snyder and Marian E. (Hale) Snyder. The family moved to Marshall during the 1930's to a dairy and crop farm in Lee Township. She attended country school in Lee Township and Marshall High School, where she was the vice-president of the 1946 Marshall Redskin Graduation Class.

Mrs. Morse was married on July 24, 1947 at St. Mary Catholic Church to Wendell H. Morse. He preceded her in death on February 19, 2004.

Mrs. Morse was employed by the Calhoun County Farm Bureau for 25 years until her retirement. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church. She was a longtime member of Marshall Country Club and won several events in her class. She enjoyed playing bingo, cards, dominoes and working on puzzles. She was a very talented seamstress; her knitting and crocheting skills kept family and friends warm with hats, mittens and afghans. She enjoyed arts and crafts projects. She spent a lot of time working on her vegetable and flower gardens. Mrs. Morse would freeze and can her crops yearly. Mowing the lawn was a lot of fun for her as it brought back memories of growing up on the farm. She loved watching sports. She was both a Michigan State and University of Michigan fan! She had many lovely trips across the United States, Canada, and Australia to watch her son John compete as a professional golfer. She was a loving and dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who was always interested in her family.

Surviving are her son John P. (Kelly) Morse and daughters Donna Clark and Elizabeth (Jon Bagi) Morse all of Marshall, and Sherry (Harold) Hoelzle of Caseville; 3 grandchildren Heather (John) Miles of Bad Axe, Anne (Richard) Smith of Grand Rapids and Christina (Peter) Ciaverilla of Southfield; 4 great-granddaughters and 3 great-grandsons; her sisters Beulah O'Leary of Marshall and Marie DeLano of Battle Creek, her brothers Larry Snyder of Lincoln and Jerry Snyder of Union City; nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.

Besides her husband Wendell Hayden Morse, she was preceded in death by her parents Charles and Marian Snyder, her son-in-law Ron Clark, brother Wayne Henry Snyder and sister Lou Anne Brewer.

Friends may call to support and visit with her family on Thursday from 4PM to 7PM at Kempf Family Funeral and Cremation Services, 723 US HWY 27 North, Marshall, MI 49068.

The funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Mary Catholic Church on Friday September 25 at 10AM with Rev. Fr. Craig Lusk officiating. Interment will follow in Lyon Lake Cemetery next to her husband.

Serving as honorary pall bearers are her brothers Larry and Jerry Snyder.
