Dennis L. Patton Sr.

Dennis L. Patton Sr., 79 of Marshall died on Tuesday, February 4, 2020 at Home surrounded by his family following a long illness.

Dennis was born on March 19, 1940 in Marshall to Vernon and Eulah (Keller) Patton.  He attended Marshall Schools.  In 1959 he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps.  Dennis served for four years and was honorably discharged in 1963.  On March 20, 1969 he married Shirley C. ”Chris” Evans in West Virginia.

Dennis retired from the Eaton Company in Marshall in 1991 after working for 35 years.  Even while working and after his retirement, Dennis worked construction helping family and friends with their projects. Dennis enjoyed bowling, hunting, and fishing.  He also enjoyed art, drawing, and making stain glass lamps.  Dennis loved his family and especially enjoyed time with his boys and grand children.

He is survived by his wife Chris; sons, D.L. (Diana) Patton, Todd (Jennifer) Patton, and Shawn (Jamie) Patton; grand children, Tori (Joe) Baxter, Zak (Holly) Patton, Brooklyn Patton, Aleksi Patton, Colin McGinnis, Evan Patton, Connor McGinnis, Landon Patton, and  Breyah Patton; great-granddaughter Gracelyn Baxter; and a sister Tammy Dollaway. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Floyd Patton.

Family will greet friends from 3-5pm on Sunday, February 9, 2020 at the Kempf Family Funeral and Cremation Services 723 US 27 N Marshall MI 49068. Funeral services celebrating his life will take place at 11am on Monday February 10, 2020 at the Kempf Family Funeral and Cremation Services Marshall Chapel 723 US 27 N Marshall MI 49068. Interment will follow at Oakridge Cemetery. Family requests memorial contributions to Oaklawn Hospice or any Veterans Organization.
