David E. Wallace

November 6, 1946 — September 23, 2020

David Everett Wallace Sr. was born into eternal life on Sept 23, 2020 having lived a life dedicated to family, faith, and the pursuit of happiness. He was born into this life on November 6, 1946 to Willard and Margaret (Hammond) Wallace in Grand Rapids, Michigan. As the oldest of six children (Susan (Jim) Kalsbeek, Carol Moorman, Charles Wallace, Brian Wallace, and Lisa (Ken) Reny, he fulfilled his role of big brother by becoming an Eagle Scout (at the time, the youngest in Kent County), graduating from St. Alphonsus Elementary, Catholic Central High School and Western Michigan University.
David had a deep love of history and genealogy and loved spending hours following the family lineage and traveled to meet several "cousins". A man of conviction regarding politics and current events, he was not afraid to share his opinions (and data to back it up) on both. He adored being a father and was so very proud to cheer on (and brag about) Christine and David in their many activities growing up and continued that support of his grandchildren. Always up for travel, he was never happier than when he was sitting on the deck of a cruise ship, reading and sipping a diet Pepsi.
David's love of reading, golf, gardening, baseball, basketball, and football gave him immense pleasure throughout his life, but his dedication to family was of most importance to him. He leaves behind his first love and mother of his children Gail (Gene) Beerens, and last love, Susan Biggs Wallace, as well as son David Wallace Jr (Anna) and daughter Christine (Tom) Martin, and step children Jaime (Andrew) Collins, Melissa (James) Doolittle and William (Nicole) Umphrey. The delights of his life were grandchildren Tia Martin, Mackenzie (Daniel) Ribbink, Jonathon Biolette, Maggie Wallace, David Wallace III, Caroline, Lillian & Alicia Collins, Kylee Bird, Alexyss Rademacher, Grant & Ella Doolittle and great grandchildren Aaliyah, Lilliana, Skylar and Jayden.
David was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, and a great nephew. Those left to mourn his loss are his three sisters and numerous nieces and nephews.
