Passed away Monday, February 10, 2020 at his home surrounded by his loving family, at the age 63. Daniel was born in Battle Creek on July 14, 1956, the son of Donald and Carolyn (Swensen) Ahlberg. He graduated from Battle Creek Academy. He attended Kellogg Community College, where he received his Associates Degree in Applied Science. He then attended Western Michigan University where he received his Bachelors of Science. He worked at the Federal Center in Battle Creek, retiring after thirty-five years of service. He spent the last four years working at the Federal Center as a contractor. He was a member of the Experimental Aircraft Association. He was a recreational private pilot and he built his own ultralight aircraft. Daniel owned two of his own Cessnas with his father-in-law and brother-in-law. His passion was making wine and founded the Fat Corgi Farm Vineyard. He was united in marriage with Jann (Dettl) Ahlberg on March 1, 1985. He was most fond of raising his family, boating and enjoying many trips vacationing to the Florida Keys. Daniel is survived by his loving wife Jann; his son, David Ahlberg; a grandson, Blaise Elmore; his parents, Donald and Carolyn Ahlberg; a brother, Dr. David (Katherine Perez) Ahlberg; two sisters, Lisa (David) Randall and Lynn (Frederic Skrzpek) Ahlberg; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Yvonne Elmore; and son, Alex Ahlberg. An informal celebration of Dan’s life will be held from 2- 5 p.m. on Sunday, February 16, 2020 at the Kempf Family Funeral Home, 2838 Capital Ave SW, Battle Creek, MI 49015.
