Crispin Bocanegra, Sr.

Crispin Bocanegra, Sr. 85, of Bellevue, Michigan, passed away on Friday, June 3, 2022 at the University of Michigan Hospital in Ann Arbor, Michigan.

He was born on December 4, 1936 to Marcelino and Andrea (Arguello) Bocanegra in Mercedes, Texas.

He entered the United States Army on May 26, 1959 in Detroit, Michigan and was honorably discharged on May 15, 1962 at Fort Hamilton, New York, attaining the rank of SP4.

Crispin worked for 38 years with Eaton Corporation in Marshall as a CNC Machinist, retiring in 2004. He started out working at H&R Block in Albion, Michigan and eventually owned Crispin Bocanegra Tax Service in Marshall, Michigan serving clients for over 50 years. Crispin was a member of the VFW Post 4073 Marshall, Michigan and the UAW Local 220 serving many years on the Executive Bargaining Committee. In addition to his pride and dedication as an active Retiree for the UAW, Crispin also had a lifelong passion with music. He was a local favorite and very talented singer, guitar, and accordion player. He truly enjoyed making music and has entertained at many weddings, birthdays, festivals, and local businesses. He will be fondly missed for his extremely kind and generous personality and heart. Crispin truly judged no one and everyone was a friend to him. His greatest pride and joy in life was his family.

Crispin is survived by his loving children; Crispin (Cris)  Bocanegra, Jr. of Marshall, Michigan, Tina (Tim) Cipcic of Battle Creek, Michigan, Amanda  Bocanegra of Marshall, Michigan, Amy Lea (Courtney) Tatum of Battle Creek, Michigan and Tasha (Chad) Edwards of Marshall, Michigan, his two step-sons; Henry Riker of Silver Grove, Kentucky and Marcus Riker of Jackson, Michigan, his step-daughter, Bambe Johnson of Lowell, North Carolina, his 12 grandchildren; Adam, Kari, Kelsi, Tara, Donald Jr., Derek, Samara, Tristin, Alaysia, Kayela, Charlie, Jon, his 9 great grandchildren and his sister, Celia (Rudy) Frausto of Redlands, California. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his siblings, Jesus, Domingo, Marcelino, Jr., Luz Garcia, Crus Gonzalez and Juanita Guzman.

Visitation for Crispin will take place on Wednesday, June 8, 2022, from 10:30 am - 11:30 am at Kempf Family Funeral and Cremation Services, 723 US Hwy 27 N, Marshall, MI 49068 with funeral services at 11:30 am at the funeral home. Deacon Mike Moreno officiating.

Burial with full military honors will take place at Fort Custer National Cemetery, Augusta, Michigan.

Memorials are suggested to the VFW Post 4073 in Marshall, Michigan.
