Chester "Chet" Paul Sanford, Jr., 58, of Battle Creek, Michigan passed away on May 18, 2021 at home in Battle Creek, Michigan.

Chet was born on March 19, 1963 in Battle Creek, Michigan to Chester Paul and Mary Martha (Davis) Sanford, Sr.

Chet was honorably discharged from the United States Marine Corps on May 18, 1983 attaining the rank of Lance Corporal.

He worked at Hurless Construction in Hastings as a framer from 1990 until 1992 and then went onto work at Marshall Brass as a machinist from 1992 until 1996. Chet continued his working career at Post Cereal in processing from 1996 until 2006.

Chet was active with UAW #1284 at Marshall Brass and served as head committeeman, he also earned his training certificate for Grievance Handling at UAW.

He liked to hunt and fish. Chet especially loved riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle. He was athletic and enjoyed high school sports, as he was a three- year varsity track athlete. A bit younger, Chet was an eagle scout and made six picnic tables for Kambly School for his community service project. He was also excellent at Tai Kwan Do competitions.

Chet is survived by his children; Amber Sanford of Grand Rapids, Michigan, Miranda Morse of Three Oaks, Michigan; his grandchildren; Hunter Gnodtke and Remy Reyna, his girlfriend; Pam Adams of Battle Creek, Michigan. He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister; Katherine Brown and his nephew; Trevor Brown.

A memorial service with full military honors will be held at 11:30 AM, Thursday, June 3, 2021 at Ft. Custer National Cemetery in Augusta, Michigan.
