Charlotte (Bishop) Egan

Battle Creek

Charlotte Egan, 88, loving wife, mother, sister and friend, passed away Saturday, April 30th after a short battle with cancer.

She was born April 22, 1934, to Charles and Maurette Bishop, the fifth of nine children.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband John Patrick Egan; siblings Orpha Goss, Barbara (Walt) Piggott, Richard (Dolores) Bishop, Jordan (Joan) Bishop and brother-in-law Walt (Barbara) Piggott.

Charlotte is survived by siblings: Janet (Joe) Flaugh of Coloma, Margaret (George) Richter of Coloma, Elizabeth Martin of Athens, GA, Kathleen Wageley of Marshall, VA, and her five children: Michael Egan of Kalamazoo, Patrick (Sandra) Egan of Rochester, MN, Timothy (Cate) Egan of Texas Corners, Colleen (Dennis) Martin of Battle Creek and Daniel (Karmel Addis) Egan of Battle Creek, as well as her grandchildren: Sean, Sarah, Beatrix, Shannon, Allison, Kaitlin, AJ & Stella; and dear friends Barbara & Dennis Tulk.

In addition to raising five children, Charlotte worked in the family printing business, was a member of St. Philip Catholic Church, Cal-Co Quilters Guild, Western North Carolina Quilters Guild and the Lifelong Learning Center in Hendersonville, NC.

She loved swimming, riding her bike, quilting, reading and the many travels she had with her husband. They retired to the Smokey Mountain area of North Carolina which was their favorite area to go camping. Her wanderlust continued after her husband passed away in 2000 when she traveled to Rome and visited the Vatican. She moved back to Michigan later in life to be closer to family. A recent memory of hers was swimming in Lake Michigan during the solar eclipse in 2017 at the ripe age of 83 years young.

A family memorial will be held May 21st in Coloma, MI and she will be interred in Lansing at a later date.
