Bruce L. Landis

Bruce L. Landis, 82, of Homer died on Monday September 20, 2021, at his home.

Bruce was born on July 19, 1939, in Butler Township, to Theodore R. and Juanita M. (Loose) Landis.  He graduated from Homer High School in 1957. Bruce started working for Thurston Tractor were met Joyce. He married Joyce M. Thurston on April 3, 1966, in Homer at the Homer United Methodist Church.

Bruce farmed in the Homer area his whole life.  He also worked a short time driving school bus for Homer Schools, driving truck for Kimber Trucking and Jet Express. Bruce was an active member of the Calhoun County Farm Bureau, M-99ers Square Dance Group, FFA Alumni, and the Fredonia Grange. Bruce loved the outdoors, planting in his garden, and cutting his own lumber.  He also loved listening to Hymn Time Country Style on Sunday mornings and listening to his collection of records. Bruce enjoyed working with his old John Deere Tractors and working with his dad filling silos.

He is survived by his wife Joyce; children, Lance (Shoni) Landis, Neil (Leslie) Landis, Grant Landis, and Audra Landis; grandchildren Téa, Macen, Meadow, and Billy; and siblings, Barbara (Herb) Nichols and Lane Landis; and sister-in-law Barbara Ann Landis.  He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother Daniel “Jay” Landis.

A memorial gathering will take place from 1-3pm on Sunday October 17, 2021 at the Kempf Family Funeral and Cremation Services 303 South Hillsdale Street Homer MI 49245 with a memorial service taking place at 3pm.  Memorial contributions may be made to the family.  Assistance with memorials is available at the Kempf Family Funeral and Cremation Services.
