Bob Eugene Worthington

Bob Eugene Worthington, 88, of Battle Creek, Michigan went to be with his Lord on Tuesday, February 16, 2021 at Glen Arbor Hospice in Battle Creek, Michigan.

Bob was born on May 3, 1932 in Evensville, Tennessee to Samuel and Lorinda J. (Ward) Worthington. He married the love of his life Joeann Clevenger on May 16, 1953 and sadly she passed away on June 30, 2003.

He enlisted into the United States Army on April 22, 1947 and was honorably discharged on August 22, 1951 attaining the rank of Corporal.

Bob was a Locomotive Engineer for Grand Trunk Railroad in Battle Creek for 39 years, retiring in 1994.

Bob was a member of American Legion Post #484- Hickory Corners, Battle Creek Eagles, St. Mark Lutheran Church in Battle Creek and the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers Local #33. He was also a Locomotive Engineer Union Representative for many years.

He enjoyed golfing, fishing and going to Canada with family and friends, mushroom hunting in Mesick, Michigan. Bob and his wife spent many winters in Leesburg and Ft. Myers, Florida. He was an avid reader, especially Western novels and also would spend time watching Western movies. Bob loved music, could play the guitar and taught his family to sing and harmonize. Bob will be missed for his great sense of humor and his way of telling stories. Most of all he enjoyed being with his family.

Bob is survived by his children; Theresa (Steve) Groth of Battle Creek, Michigan, Robert (Pene) Worthington of Battle Creek, Michigan, Michael (Leah) Worthington of Richland, Michigan, Vicky Worthington of Battle Creek, Michigan and Anthony (Kathy) Worthington of Battle Creek, Michigan; his 9 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren and 1 great great granddaughter. he was preceded in death by his parents, his wife; Joeann Worthington, his nephew; James Worthington and his siblings, Edward Worthington, Ronald Worthington, Kenneth Worthington, Carl Worthington, Shirley Ryan, Edna Worthington and Ruth Worthington.
Visitation will take place on Monday, February 22, 2021 from 6:30 - 8:00 PM at St. Mark Lutheran Church, 114 Minges Road E Battle Creek, Michigan 49015.

A funeral service will be held at 12 Noon, Tuesday, February 23, 2021 at St. Mark Lutheran Church in Battle Creek, Michigan, with Pastor Jack Langfeldt and Pastor J. Travis Worthington officiating. Because of Covid restrictions please call 269-964-0401 to reserve seating. Interment will follow at Ft. Custer National Cemetery in Augusta, Michigan.

Memorials contributions are requested to St. Mark Lutheran Church or to the Charity of the donor's choice.
