Beverly "Bev" N. (Niswander) VanVleet

Beverly “Bev” N. VanVleet,92, of Battle Creek passed away on Friday, June 20, 2020 at Glenn Arbor Hospice Residence in Battle Creek.

She was born on March 20, 1928 to Charles and Norma (Luhrs) Niswander in Battle Creek. Bev married Emmett VanVleet on May 18, 1946 and sadly he passed away in 1992 after 46 years of marriage.

Bev very much loved being a homemaker, as well as watching soap operas, Gunsmoke, Walker Texas  Ranger, and Bonanza. She enjoyed feeding and taking care of the local cats, going on car rides to watch the deer, watching the hot air balloons and going to Baldwin with Emmett during the summer. She will be fondly remembered for her sassy personality.

Bev is survived by her children, Vicky VanDaff of Michigan and Henry VanVleet of Florida; her grandchildren, Debbie (Derek) Stahl of Michigan, Tamra Ksiazek of Florida, Melisa (Darrel) Allred of Nebraska, Doug VanVleet of North Carolina, Brandon (Sarah) VanDaff of Michigan and Joshua (Deanna) VanDaff of West Virginia; her great grandchildren, LJ, Kyle, Justin, Kassidi, Darrel, Mara, David, Kiarra, Kylie, Daymen, Imogen and Allison; her great great grandson, Braylen and her brothers, Charles Niswander of Michigan and  Carl Niswander of Florida. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Bev was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Emmett, her son Michael and her sister Joyce VanVleet.

Visitation for Bev will be held Saturday, June 27, 2020 from 12 noon- 1:00 pm at Kempf Family Funeral and Cremation Services 2838 Capital Ave. SW Battle Creek, Michigan 49015 with a graveside funeral service to follow at 1:30 at Hicks Cemetery in Pennfield Township.
