Beverly Ann (Daly) Wood

Beverly "Bev" Ann Wood, 91, of Albion, Michigan passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 25, 2021 in the company of her loving family.

Bev was born October 10, 1929 in Bellevue, Michigan to Milo and Arloe (Lane) Daly and was raised on the family farm along with her brother Maurice and two sisters Maureen and Phyllis. While in high school she met a young farm boy from the Albion area named Wendell Wood. They fell in love immediately and were together for more than seventy years until his passing in 2015.

Bev was beloved by all who knew her and she touched many lives. She was a kind, generous and unselfish grandmother, mother, wife (farm and house), Rice Creek Country Store manager, Rice Creek Cemetery treasurer/secretary, volunteer election official, factory worker, surrogate mother to many friends of Sharon and Thomas and countless other roles designed to help her family, friends and any who needed it. She was an accomplished cook as her farm inspired dishes (especially her own version of scalloped potatoes) were consumed and raved about by folks of all walks of life. Bev was a longtime member of Rice Creek Ladies Aide Group and the Marshall Moose.

She and Wendell enjoyed their lives to the fullest participating in countless activities. They loved to dance, play golf, attend sporting and other events whenever their family was involved, deer hunting (in 2003 they both took monster bucks within hours of each other).

While in failing health in her later years, she was cared for in the home of her granddaughter Marcy Haefele, and granddaughter-in-law Joanie Bassler. Their loving care filled her life with fun and happiness for which she repeatedly expressed her gratitude.

Bev is survived by her children; Sharon Haefele of Marshall, Michigan, Dr. Thomas Wood of Albion, Michigan; her 2 grandchildren, Marcy (Joanie) Haefele and Lori (Steve Robinson) Brown; 4 great grandchildren, Amanda (Jon) Rodriguez, Noah Brown, Mara Brown and Jon Bassler and 3 great great grandchildren, Jayla, Kylee and Lauren, her sister-in-law, Dorothy Daly of Battle Creek, Michigan. Bev is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Wendell Wood, her siblings, Maurice Daly, Maureen Jenkins and Phyllis Ball, her son-in-law Robert Haefele and her sister-in-law Shirley Williams.

Visitation for Bev will be take place on Monday, March 29, 2021 from 3:00 until 7:00 PM at Kempf Family Funeral and Cremation Services, 723 US Hwy 27 N Marshall, Michigan 49068.

A graveside funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM, Tuesday, March 30, 2021 with The Rev. Mother Anne Schnaare officiating, Pastor, Trinity Episcopal Church-Marshall, Michigan at Rice Creek Cemetery in Lee Township, Michigan.
