Bernetta L. Leach

Bernetta l. Leach, 99 of Marshall died on Tuesday, May 7, 2019 at Best Care East Adult Foster Care Home in Marshall.
Bernetta was born on January 12, 1920 in Fulton to Lewis and Elizabeth (Skinner) Miller. She graduated from Athens High School in 1938. She married Dale E. Hertel and their marriage ended in divorce. She later fell in love and married Stuart Leach and he preceded her in death in 1998.
Bernetta worked for the Eaton Corporation in Marshall for many years, and she retired in the late 1970s. She was a former member of the Wesleyan Church in Battle Creek where she taught a Bible Study class for many years. She enjoyed working in her garden, traveling to many countries and several different states. She also enjoyed working with stained glass and enjoyed making stained glass art for several of her family and friends.
She is survived by her daughter-in-law Antoinette Hertel of Battle Creek; a grandson Dale (Kristie) Hertel of North Carolina; great-grandchildren, Eric Hertel and Elisha Smith. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a son Steven Hertel in 2013; and eight siblings.
Family will greet friends on Friday May 10, 2019 from10-11am at the Marshall Chapel of the Kempf Family Funeral and Cremation Services 723 US 27 North with funeral services celebrating her life taking place at 11am with Pastor Kelly Hadlich officiating. Interment will follow at North Fulton Cemetery. Memorial contributions are requested to the Van Andel Institute (www.vai.org/help-donate) assistance with memorials is available at the Kempf Family Funeral and Cremation Services.
