Bernard "Ben" Edward Neubert

Bernard “Ben” Edward Neubert, 88, of Battle Creek, went to be with his Lord on Saturday, February 1, 2020 at Lakeview Assisted Living in Battle Creek.

Ben was born on July 25, 1931 to Albert and Thelma (Crandell) Neubert in Battle Creek. He was raised in Banfield, then moved to 24th Street in Battle Creek after marrying Phyllis Seivert on March 22, 1954. Sadly, Phyllis preceded him in death on February 28, 2001. He then married Marilyn Heady- Davis on April 25, 2002 in Battle Creek. He attended Banfield School and graduated from Hastings High School in 1949.

He served in the United States Navy from 1952 until 1953 on the USS Grapole ARS-7 Rescue and Salvage in Japan and Korea. Ben worked in Process Production and as a Utility Operator with the Kellogg Cereal Company for over 38 years, retiring on January 6, 1989.

Ben and Phyllis spent 12 winters in Dade City, Florida. He and Marilyn wintered in Zephyr Hills, Florida for 10 years.  He was a member of Cornerstone Free Methodist Church in Battle Creek and had attended Zephyr Hills United Methodist Church in Florida. Ben was a Life Member of the Athen’s VFW Post # 56 and had attended Dade City American Legion Post.

He is survived by his wife Marilyn; his children, Terry Lee (Barbara) Neubert of East Leroy, Deborah (Rod) Beer of Bronson and Michael (Linda) Neubert of Fulton; his step-children, Dawn (Bud) Sellen of Battle Creek, Dan (Sandi) Davis of Bellevue and Dyan Davis of Battle Creek; his many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; his brothers, Louis C. (Jane) Neubert of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and Carl D. Neubert of Orlando, Florida. He was preceded in death by his step-daughter Dana M. Perry, his brothers Dale and Elwood Neubert and his step-grandson Shawn Martin.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, February 9, 2020 from 5:00 until 7:00 PM at Kempf Family Funeral and Cremation Services, Battle Creek Chapel (2838 Capital Ave. SW, Battle Creek, MI 49015). Funeral services for Ben will take place at 11:30 AM, Monday, February 10, 2020 at Cornerstone Community Church in Battle Creek with Pastor Paul Parker officiating. A visitation will be held from 10:30 until 11:30 AM prior to the funeral service at the church. Interment with military honors will be held at Ft. Custer National Cemetery in Augusta.
