Benjamin W. Hodge

February 24, 1981 — May 26, 2019

Benjamin W. Hodge 38, of Battle Creek formerly of Queen Creek, Arizona, and Centerline, Michigan died on Sunday, May 26, 2019 from a sudden heart attack.
Ben was born on February 24, 1981 in Little Rock, Arkansas to Rory Hodge and Susan Meares. On January 2, 2007 he married Amber Cherise Lundberg in Mesa, Arizona. Although Ben has lived all across the United States but, his heart was always in Michigan, specifically Detroit. Ben was proud to call the "Motor City" his home. From the Detroit Red Wings to the Tigers and Lions, Ben loved all things Detroit. If you knew Ben you knew his love for punk rock, rockabilly and classic Johnny Cash.
Ben enlisted in the United Sates Army in 2006 and earned the rank of Corporal. He served 18 months as part of Iraqi Freedom as a Motor Transport Operator. Ben retired from the Army in 2013 from injuries sustained during his deployment to Iraq. Ben was more than a great soldier, he was a great friend and brother to all her served with. Ben was tough, bringing his Motor City grit with him to the Army and every unit he was assigned to. But that, toughness was tempered with compassion and humor. Ben loved a good prank and was often making his fellow service members laugh and smile with his infectious grin and quick wit. You wanted to be around Ben because no matter how hard things got, Ben would make the worst situations tolerable. That's who Ben Hodge was. Ben's sanctuary was with his wife and boys, ever the family man. Always the doting Father he instilled work ethic and Christian family values into his boys and was the proudest with their achievements. He enjoyed building things with his hands and found great pleasure in upgrading and remodeling houses that had his personal touch that became Hodge family homes. Ben also loved the outdoors spending time with his family boating on a lake, riding a motorcycle, four-wheeling or knocking down targets at a shooting range. He will be remembered for his child like joy that would bring him trouble, all the while being able to make others laugh and have a good time. Ben's ability to friend anyone with his care and love will be missed by all that knew him.
Ben is survived by his wife Amber Cherise of Battle Creek; children, Remington "Remi" Martin and Benjamin R.
