Barbara Harriet Powers, age 83. of Albion, Michigan died Wednesday, August 5, 2020 at her home.
Mrs. Powers was born on July 15, 1937 in Washington, DC to Harold L. and Viola (Higgins) Daly Sr. Barbara was a graduate of Montgomery Blair High School in Maryland, class of 1955. She continued her education receiving a BA while attending American University in Washington. In 1963, she received a certificate in Clinical Pathology from the University of Michigan.
Prior to moving to Albion, she worked at the Saginaw Hospital. Once moving to Albion, she had been employed as a Clinical Pathologist by the Albion Community Hospital. Other places of employment included the Leila Hospital in Battle Creek.
On May 16, 1964, she married Richard Edward Powers in Albion. He preceded her in death on November 28, 2002.
Barbara was a member of the Society of Clinical Pathologist and had formerly attended the Albion United Methodist Church. She enjoyed drawing (pencil sketches) and painting.
She is survived by sons, Mark (Mary Kay) Powers of Bolesville, NC and Stuart Edward (Heather) Powers of Albion; 2 grandchildren, Victor Powers and Jeffery Powers; and many nieces and nephews.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Viola Daly Sr; husband, Richard E. Powers; brothers, Harold Daly MD, Charles Daly, Frank Daly and Thomas Daly; and a sister, Mary Daly MD.
A graveside service will be held 1:30 PM Tuesday, August 11, 2020 at Fort Custer National Cemetery, 15501 Dickman Rd., Augusta, MI. with Reverend James Codde officiating.
