Barb A. (Samson) Webb

January 13, 1951 — March 11, 2023

Bellevue

Barbara A. Webb passed away in the early morning of Saturday, March 11, 2023, in her home surrounded by her family after a 5-year battle with cancer. Barb was born in Yonkers, New York on January 13, 1951. Her parents moved to Marshall, MI where she graduated from high school in 1969. Following high school, she attended St. Luke’s School of Nursing in Marquette, MI. After nursing school, Barb moved to Philadelphia and worked as a nurse at Temple University Hospital before enlisting in the United States Air Force in Fort Worth, TX. Barb eventually found her way back to Marshall, Battle Creek, and settled in Olivet where she lived for the past 37 years.

Barb spent her career as a nurse. She served honorably in the United States Air Force, achieving the rank of Captain. Barb then spent time working in the emergency room, followed by years in home health care, and finished in pediatrics when she retired in 2019. She was well-respected in her field by doctors, fellow nurses, and patients.

Barb was married to her husband Rick for 37 years. They met while both working at the hospital in Battle Creek. After months of Rick asking her on dates, she finally gave in, and the rest was history. They spent their time raising their two daughters, attending their sporting events, and watching their four grandchildren grow up. During their retirement, Barb and Rick would spend their mornings enjoying coffee on the porch, thanking God for the life they built together.

Barb was a beloved wife, mother, sister, and friend. She loved volunteering at City on a Hill Community Church where she was a long-time member. She loved spending time with her grandkids and taking road trips with her sisters. Barb was also a wonderful cook and shared that gift with family and friends. She was an avid dog-lover and never met a dog she didn’t instantly fall in love with.

Barb had a beautiful sense of humor and could make anyone laugh with her quick wit and sarcasm. She could easily fill a room with laughter.

Barb adored her family and often commented about how blessed she was to have them. She leaves behind her husband Rick Webb of 37 years; daughters, Sarah (Jaron) Prielipp and Emily (Ryan) Lash; grandchildren Ava (17), Blake (15), Lucas (7), and Hudson (2); brothers, Russ (Joanne) Samson and Tim Samson; sisters, Ruthann (Gary) Thomas and Mary (Jeff) Williams; and several nieces and nephews who she loved so much. Barb is preceded in death by her father Russell G. Samson, mother Ruth M. Samson, and nephew Timothy J. Samson.

Barb will be greatly missed.
