Arlene Mae (Keller) Smyth

June 13, 1942 — July 25, 2020

Arlene Mae Smyth, age 78, of Marshall died unexpectedly after being stricken on Saturday, July 25, 2020.

Arlene was born on June 13, 1942 in Sherwood Township to Clifford R. and Helen (Camps) Keller.  She was a graduate of Union City High School, class of 1960.  She was a longtime resident of the Marshall area and had worked as a clerk for the Winston Park Shell Station for 15 years.  Other employment included State Farm Insurance Regional Offices from 1967 until 1977 and at the Star Commonwealth School in Albion.

In 1965, she married Roger Smyth in Marshall at the Marshall Baptist Church.  Their marriage ended in divorce.

Arlene was a member of the Marshall Baptist Church and the Eastern Star.  She enjoyed many outdoor activities, including camping, hunting, and fishing.  While employed at State Farm, she participated in their golf league.

She is survived by a daughter, Kristin Smyth of Marshall; grandchildren, Alex Spees of Battle Creek of Battle Creek and Brandon Spees of Marshall; brothers, Ronald Keller, and Donald Keller both of Union City; and many nieces and nephews.

Due to the Covid 19 pandemic, a private family graveside service will be held.  A public Celebration of life service will be held at a later date.

Friends who wish may make memorial contributions to the Marshall First Baptist Church, 305 W. Michigan Ave, Marshall, MI or through the funeral home.
