Arlene J. Homann

September 4, 1941 — March 16, 2020

Arlene Joan Homann, age 78, of Washington Township formerly of Marshall, died at her home in the loving care of her family on Monday morning, March 16, 2020.

Arlene was born on September 4, 1941 in Detroit to Lawrence and Irene (Powers) White.  She grew up in the Detroit area where she attended Redford Township High School.   Arlene did not graduate with her class, but admirably returned to earn her GED later in life.

Arlene, like most girls her age, babysat.  While babysitting children for a German family, the mothers all decided to have all the babysitters and children gather at one house while the parents enjoyed a day to BobLo Island.    A young Fred Homann was watching over his nieces that day.  Fred saw Arlene and was smitten!  He never let go of her after that.  They were married at Grace Lutheran Church in Redford Township on Grand River Avenue on September 21, 1957 creating a loving partnership that has lasted 63 years.

The couple lived in Warren for many years after their marriage where they raised their family.   Arlene was Fred’s business partner in every way as they built MSI together, from signing every bank loan with Fred to taking full charge of the household, raising the children and entertaining clients. She traveled with Fred on business trips to Germany, Ireland and England where she proved to be a tremendous asset to her husband.  They moved to Marshall in the 1980’s where they resided until moving to Washington Township 4 years ago to be closer to family.

Arlene and Fred enjoyed cold weather trips going to Hilton Head, SC and later in life to Naples, Florida.

Fred and Arlene were members of Zion Lutheran Church in Marshall.

She is survived by her beloved husband Fred, daughter and son-in-law Nina Ann and R. Stephen Clark of Bruce Township, Romeo, and her loving and loved grandchildren, Kirsten Lauren (Justin) Shattuck of Bruce Township, Kaitlin Ann Clark of Lansing, Montana Sarah Clark of Lansing,  Alicia Ann Berry of Chelsea, and Jacob Michael Hall of Grass Lake.

Arlene was preceded in death by her parents, her son Fred W. Homann Jr.  and her brother Lawrence White Jr..
