Aletha “D.D.” Laree Swann

Aletha "D.D." Laree Swann, 83. Of Marshall died on Friday, April 23, 2021 at Whispering Pines Adult Foster Care Home following a long illness.
Aletha was born on December 17, 1937 in Pontiac to George and Marie (McNerney) Lane. She was raised in the Gingelville Area. Aletha graduated from Lake Orion High School in 1956. On November 15, 1956 she married Kenneth Swann at St. Michael Catholic Church in Pontiac, MI.
Aletha enjoyed being a homemaker most of her life, but she also held a real estate license, and later on enjoyed working at the Adult Foster Care Home Campbell's Corners in Royal Oak. Aletha enjoyed Bingo, going to garage sales with her sisters, cooking and working in her flower beds. She also enjoyed traveling in Northern Michigan, but enjoyed her special trips to Italy and Germany. Aletha enjoyed being with her family, being a wife, mother and grandmother was her greatest joy.
She is survived by her husband Kenneth; daughters Yalonda Marie (Craig) Sell and Dawn (Ron) Holcomb; five grandchildren; Amanda Sell, Victoria Mae (Kyle) Newnam, Heather (Marcus Berg) Sell, Lane Holcomb and Carly Holcomb; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents George and Marie Lane; siblings Joe McNerney, Georgia Denton, Jerry Lane, Marlene Spencer, Wilma Smith, and baby sister Connie Jean Davis.
Visitation will take place from 4-7pm on Thursday April 29, 2021 at the Kempf Family Funeral and Cremation Services 723 US Hwy 27 N Marshall MI 49068 with a rosary service taking place at 6:30pm. A Funeral Mass will take place at 11am on Friday April 30, 2021 at St. Mary Catholic Church 212 West Hanover Street Marshall MI 49068. Inurnment will follow at Oakridge Cemetery 614 Homer Road Marshall MI 49068. Memorial contributions are requested to Marian E. Burch Adult Day Care Center 1150 E Michigan Avenue Battle Creek MI 49014. Memorial contributions may also be mailed to Kempf Funeral Home PO Box 519 Marshall MI 49068 for delivery to the charity.
