Wilbur Allen Wagenschutz

Wilbur Allen Wagenschutz, 83, of Marshall, Michigan went home to be with the Lord on Friday, December 3, 2021 at Oaklawn Hospital in Marshall, Michigan.

He was born on January 22, 1938 to John and Clara (Watson) Wagenschutz in Petoskey, Michigan.

Wilbur married Carol Wingate on August 29, 1959 in Napoleon, Michigan. After graduating in 1956 from Harbor Springs High School in Harbor Springs, Michigan, he went to Tennessee Temple Bible School in Chattanooga, Tennessee and graduated in 1959 with a degree in Theology. While in the south, Wilbur also graduated from the Moeller School of Barbering in Atlanta, Georgia in 1960.

He was a barber at Plaza Barbershop in Marshall for 45 years and retired from Bostik Adhesives in Marshall after 22 years. Wilbur was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Marshall for 25 years and has been a member of First Baptist Church in Albion for the past 32 years. While at First Baptist Church, he was a music director, a deacon, taught Sunday school and was a visitation pastor. He enjoyed deer hunting, fishing and especially traveling across the United States with his wife Carol. After serving his Lord, his great pleasure was spending time with his family and investing in their lives.

Wilbur is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Carol, his children Brenda Murphy of Marshall, Michigan and Mark (Amber) Wagenschutz of Canton, Michigan, 7 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and his two sisters Barb (Floyd) McKaye of Alanson, Michigan and Hilda Grossman of Petoskey, Michigan.

He was preceded in death by his parents and 11 siblings.

Visitation for Wilbur will take place on Wednesday, December 8, 2021, from 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm at Kempf Family Funeral & Cremation Services, 723 US Hwy 27 N Marshall, Michigan 49068. Funeral services will take place on Thursday, December 9, 2021, at 11:00 am with visitation starting at 10:00 am at First Baptist Church, 980 Haven Rd. Albion, Michigan 49224. Pastor Tom Hollowood and Pastor Mark Milioni officiating. Burial will take place at Oakridge Cemetery in Marshall, Michigan.
