Sharon Sonya Bergstresser-Essex, 78, of Marshall, Michigan, passed away on Tuesday, January 14, 2025 at Oaklawn Hospital in Marshall, Michigan.
She was born on April 2, 1946 to Edmond and Nora (Cady) Wilbur in Albion, Michigan.
Sharon married Warren "Bud" Bergstresser in 1967 in Marshall, sadly he passed away on January 17, 2016. She then met and married Robert Essex on April 10, 2018 in Battle Creek. She was a 1965 graduate of Albion High School. Sharon attended the Urbandale Seventh-day Adventist Church. She absolutely loved Christmas, from the true meaning of the season to decorating the multiple trees to collecting Nut Crackers. She enjoyed crocheting, embroidery, making quilts, playing handheld video games, word games and playing cards. She also looked forward to her yearly ride in her son and daughter-in-law’s 1978 Jeep. Sharon’s greatest love was her family, she was selfless, gracious and gave the best advice.
Sharon is survived by her loving husband Robert, her children, Jeffery Bergstresser of Marshall, Michigan, Randy (Jennyfer) Bergstresser of Battle Creek, Michigan and Stacy (Bill) Eckelbecker of Climax, Michigan; her step-children, Toya Koch of Waynesboro, Pennsylvania, Teresa (Jack) Valentine of Camas, Washington, Robert (Linda) Essex, Jr. of Augusta, Michigan and William (Brilsy) Essex of Battle Creek, Michigan. She is also survived by 15 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her siblings, Darrell Wilbur, Donald Wilbur, Duane Wilbur and Lawrence Wilbur.
A private celebration of life for Sharon will be held at a later date.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the Alzheimer's Association.
