Phyllis Jean Riley, 93, of Hamilton, Indiana, formerly of Marshall, Michigan passed away on Monday, November 7, 2022 at Ashton Creek Health and Rehabilitation Center in Fort Wayne, Indiana.
She was born on December 23, 1928 to Arlon and Edna (Girnus) Myers in Urbana, Ohio.
On March 8, 1947 she married Donald W. Riley in Battle Creek, Michigan, sadly he died on February 4, 2005.
Her first job was at Henry's Ice Cream in Battle Creek, Michigan. Phyllis then went to work as a clerk for Montgomery Wards in Battle Creek, Michigan and then at Sears in Pontiac, Michigan. She was a former member of the First Presbyterian Church of Marshall and a former member of the Mary Marshall Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution and the Mayflower Society. Phyllis enjoyed traveling throughout the United States, wintering in Texas and genealogy research.
Phyllis is survived by her children; Sue King of Concord, Michigan, Lisa Marie Riley of Denton, Texas, Donald "Skip" (Joan) Riley of Hamilton, Michigan and Michael David (Gayle) Riley of Pontiac, Michigan, her 9 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren and 14 great great grandchildren; her brothers; Arlon Myers, Jr. of Texas, Dale Myers of Marshall, Michigan and Jack (Betty) Myers of Hastings, Michigan.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her sisters; Reatha Tallenger and Elsie Shulters and her brother, Dale Hainline.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 12, 2022, from 10:30 am until 12:00 pm at Kempf Family Funeral & Cremation Services, 723 US Hwy 27 N, Marshall, Michigan 49068 with the funeral service to follow at 12:00 pm at the funeral home. Donald Riley, officiating. The burial will take place at Hotchkiss Cemetery, Marshall Twp., Michigan.
Memorials are suggested to the First Presbyterian Church of Marshall or the Mary Marshall Chapter-Daughters of the American Revolution.
