Phylis Rosenau

Phylis E. Rosenau, 89, of Marshall, passed away on July 12, 2022, at Oaklawn Hospital in Marshall, Michigan.

Phylis was born on December 15, 1932, to Harold and Lois (Owens) Arnold, in Marshall, MI. She graduated from Marshall High School in 1952. She married Gayle Rosenau in 1953 on a TV series, “Bride and Groom” that was taped in New York City. Prizes included farm equipment and household appliances. Phylis and Gayle lived in Marshall for most of their lives.

Phylis worked as a seamstress for many years. She owned the Spinning Wheel Fabric Store, which was in downtown Marshall on the corner Michigan Ave and Jefferson Street. She also ran a thriving upholstery business out of the store. She and Gayle enjoyed going on mission trips with the First Presbyterian Church, of which she and Gayle were both members. Phylis loved to travel, especially visiting our national parks. Their four children enjoyed their many vacations. One of their more memorable trips included the 1967 Expo held in Montreal, Canada. She was also 4-H club leader, and a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Marshall.

Phylis is survived by her two daughters, Deborah Stephenson (James) of Lake City, Florida; Dawn Rosenau of Marshall, Michigan; two sons, Bret Rosenau (Glenda) of Montague, Michigan and Russell (Linda) Rosenau of Fernandina Beach, Florida; grandsons, Jason Lipsey, Justin Hardwick, James Wells; granddaughters Ashleigh Lipsey, Cassie Hardwick, Chelsea Critchlow, Christina Linberg, Jessie Lou Ferguson; brother-in-law, Jack Haman of Battle Creek, Michigan, a niece, Suzanne (George) Alen of Dewitt, Michigan; nephew, Mike (Pam) Haman of Battle Creek, Michigan

She was preceded in death by her husband Gayle, the love of her life, and her sister Joyce Ruth Haman.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

Memorials are suggested to the First Presbyterian Church of Marshall.
