Justine Miriam (Nunan) Peters passed away on January 1, 2025 in Battle Creek, Michigan. She was 92.

She was born in Sanford, Maine on April 3, 1932 to Justin Leavitt Nunan and Viola Louise Tilley Nunan.

Justine graduated from Sanford High School in 1950, where she played the French Horn, and she graduated from the Executive Secretarial course at Fisher Junior College in June 1952. She graduated from Nursing School in 1979 and worked as an LPN until 1994.

On February 10, 1952, she met the love of her life, George A. Peters. She loved to recall telling her parents “He’ll do until something better comes along.” They were married on October 25, 1952 and were married for 52 years. He predeceased her in 2005.

Justine loved to travel and had visited 48 of the 50 states, missing only Hawaii and California. In May of 1993, she and her husband travelled to Germany, Norway, Sweden, and Denmark on a 10-day tour. Over the next several years, they took seasonal jobs at Everglades National Park in Florida, Acadia National Park in Maine, and Theodore Roosevelt National Park in North Dakota. In 1995, they drove their Jeep pickup truck to Alaska and back. They also enjoyed living in Rockport, Texas during the winter months and did so for nine years. In 2012 at the age of 80, Justine travelled to South Africa on a mission trip with Family Bible Church, Marshall, Michigan. She enjoyed visiting with the children there and even got to pet a lion!

In 1965, Justine and her husband became members of the Mio Chapter No. 528 of the Order of Eastern Star and later transferred to the Crystal Hope Chapter No. 444 which later became Benzie Area Chapter No. 405. She was active in Eastern Star until 2016 and was Worthy Matron five times, Grand Representative of Colorado in Michigan from 1994-1996, and Grand Committee member for 2 years. She was currently a life member of Bedford Chapter No. 471.
