In loving Memory of John “Jack” Quigley I
It is with heavy heart that we announce the peaceful passing of John “Jack” Quigley I in his home early Thursday night, November 14, 2024. Jack has joined his beloved wife, Suzanne “Sue”, daughter, Terri Quigley (Trubec) and grandson, John “JJ” Quigley III in Heaven. Though we grieve his absence, we find comfort in knowing he is reunited with those he held dear.
Jack Quigley was born on June 1, 1930 and lived a life filled with love, devotion, and a steadfast commitment to hard work. On March 22, 1951, he married the love of his life, Sue. Their story began at Tidey Motor Sales, where Jack worked, and Sue was a secretary. Their connection blossomed at the local ice rink, where Jack would skate, and Sue would watch him with admiration. Their marriage was a beautiful testament to enduring love, and together they built a wonderful family and life.
Jack was also a man of deep service and patriotism. From 1951 to 1953, he proudly served as an Army Sergeant, stationed in Aberdeen, Maryland. His dedication during his military years was a reflection of his unwavering commitment to duty.
Jack’s professional life was equally distinguished. He began his career at Tidey Motor Sales, where he worked for 21 years, both before and after his time in the Army. Rising through the ranks, he became a respected mechanic and service and sales manager known for his expertise and dependability. In 1968, Jack joined Eaton Proving Grounds, where he found his true calling. Over nearly three decades, he served as the grounds manager and manager of both the Little Lodge and Big Lodge for 29 years, roles he excelled in with joy and pride. Whether he was feeding the fish, or warmly welcoming customers, Jack poured his heart into his work. His job was a reflection of his care for the beauty around him and his dedication to creating a welcoming environment.
Jack retired from Eaton in 1997, leaving a legacy of hard work, integrity, and excellence. He was a man of unwavering devotion to his family and community, known for his kindness, laughter, and the simple yet profound ways he showed his love. Jack’s life was one defined by compassion, wisdom, and humor, and his gentle spirit will continue to guide us all.
Jack is survived by his cherished and loving children, Debra, John, and Conni, and his caring grandchildren, Shaina and Sivan Shamam. Though his presence will be missed, his memory lives on in the hearts of those fortunate enough to know him.
The family invites all who knew Jack to celebrate his life and honor his memory. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages everyone to honor Jack’s legacy by enjoying the outdoors, sharing a laugh, extending kindness to others, just as Jack did throughout his life or to give to Oaklawn Hospice which took excellent care of him over the last year.
Rest in peace, Jack. Your life was a blessing, and your love will forever live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved you.
